Environmental Portrait: Spicy McHaggis
For this assignment, I decided to take pictures of my friend. I'm not all at home with posting his face AND revealing his name on the internet, even on Weebly, so I shall be referring to him as Spicy McHaggis, a fictional character from the Dropkick Murphys song "The Spicy McHaggis Jig". Don't let the song influence your opinion of him (if you do choose to look up the song.), he's almost the complete opposite of that character. (Well, almost. XD just kidding.)
Anyway, so I wanted to take pictures of Spicy McHaggis at his house, in his favorite place in his house, his basement, doing one of his favorite hobbies, playing guitar. This is his favorite environment, so I felt this would be the best place to take these pictures. It shows he's a homebody who likes music.
Most of the facial expressions in these pictures (that aren't of him singing) show an air of concentration, because he's trying to remember the chords to the song he's playing. I make him the center focus of the photo by putting him in the foreground. In some of the photos, I was very close in lining up the strings of the guitar to the panels in the ceiling.
I unwisely used all the lights in his basement to try to simulate sunlight, which made the photos bleached and confusing. I tried using depth of field in the photo of just his hand and the neck of the guitar, but I didn't have a tripod so it came out wrong.
