Written Commentary

For my Concentration pieces, I wanted to draw a series of pictures that, in sequence tells a story of a flagpole sitter and an angel who see each other.  I first came up with the idea of the flagpole sitter after seeing a photograph in my American history book that showed Alvin "Shipwreck" Kelly sitting on a flagpole (as seen here: http://www.lancefuhrer.com/images/Fads2.gif). The only thing is, it doesn't say anywhere whether he sat directly on the pole or not, like if he sat on a board atop the pole, so I'm not sure if I should make that edit (because in the sketches I have now, the flagpole sitter is sitting directly on the pole). But unlike Kelly's story, my flagpole sitter wouldn't be sitting up there all the time, and he's sat atop of flagpoles before, so the people on the street aren't concerned whether he'll fall or not (hopefully I can incorporate a picture with this information without being too distracting/ awkward to the story.).  These pictures will be in my own design, which is a way of drawing that I developed that is influenced by Bill Watterson, Ryan Armand, Charlie "Spike" Trotman, and other great cartoonists/graphic novelists. The media I'll use will be paint.
